Kevin Brown Testimony
As most of you know, I have been going to Hill Cumorah in Mexico with Neil Steede for the past four years and last year we found a tablet. Actually God gave us the tablet, which we are calling the Proclamation Tablet. On this tablet is writing in ancient Chinese and Married Ogam. The Chinese has been deciphered by epigraphers, and all three Ideograms say "Proclaim." Married Ogam is a script which has been translated by 3 different epigraphers into ancient Hebrew. The Ogam reads "Inside the covered place," or "Inside the cave, the______" and the last word or phrase is not Hebrew. The epigraphers agree that the language is Semitic but the last word or phrase, as far as they can discern right now, is not in the Hebrew language. The scribe who wrote on the tablet also seemed to be trying to convey the importance of the number twenty-four. There were twenty-four strokes used to make up the inscriptions, which isn't happenstance. It could be that the last word or phrase is "plates of Ether" with the 24 strokes indicating the 24 plates of Ether. This would make sense since Ether is a Jaredite word and wouldn't be found in the Hebrew language. If this is true, then the translation would read, "Inside the covered place/cave, are the 24 plates of Ether." The tablet is still being studied and we hope to learn more about it soon.
This year we went down to Cumorah with hopes of finding the records. We did not find them. Instead, God opened up doors for us to witness to the people who live in the shadow of the mountain. He made it clear to us that His people are more important than the writings. Until the remnants of His people who live there understand what has been done for their sake and hear God's call, the records will stay in the mountain's protection. Jesus calls. It is my belief that ALL are called to serve. I don't believe that it is limited to gender, race, age or sexual orientation. I believe that God calls each of us, not just the ones who dress nice on Sunday or who seem to "have it all together." We are called in spite of the state that we are in. That's the beauty of God's Grace. We don't have to be perfect to serve. God's Grace is sufficient for ALL. I am unworthy to serve my Heavenly Father yet He is calling me. While on the hill this year, a group of us were standing at our base camp, which is at the edge of the jungle, at dusk. We were watching the sun set when we heard a group of birds in the jungle making a great noise. We turned to see what was going on and watched as three quetzal birds flew over us and into a tree nearby. For those who don't know, the Maya used the quetzal bird as one of their representations of Christ and the quetzal birds are noted for their long tail feathers. As we watched the three birds land in their tree, a fourth one flew over, trying to catch up with the other three. As it flew and as we watched, it hit a tree, bounced off and continued on till it reached the other three quetzals. We all had to laugh as that reminded us of our own personal relationship with Christ. We try the best we can to follow but inevitably we hit our heads along the way, some of us many times on the same tree. Though we sometimes beat ourselves up, we are able to get up and continue to follow Christ.
What if the key to building Zion is everyone hearing God's Call and, this part is crucial, listening. We need to go to our Heavenly Father in fasting and prayer and then take the time to listen and discern.
Psalm 46 says: "God is our refuge and strength, a present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth shall be removed, and though the mountains shall be carried into the midst of the sea; And the waters thereof roar, being troubled, and the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Yet there shall be a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. For Zion shall come, and God shall be in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God shall help her right early. The heathen shall be enraged, and their kingdoms shall be moved, and the Lord shall utter his voice, and the earth shall be melted. The Lord of hosts who shall be with us, the God of Jacob our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he shall make in the earth in the latter days. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chario t in the fire, and saith unto the nations, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts shall be with us, the God of Jacob our refuge. Selah."
Be Still And Know that He Is God. Too often in our busy lives we rush from prayer to prayer without taking the time to be still and know. Jesus IS calling - Knocking at your door. Are you listening? How will you respond? What if Zion could be here today if we would only listen to what Christ is trying to say? Would that open your heart to His call? Friends, family, fellow followers of Christ, I stand here today to tell you that Christ IS calling you. Zion CAN be a reality, but it's going to take work! We shouldn't be content with attending church on Sundays and trying to live the best lives we can. We are called to do more. We are called to live harmoniously with one another and to hold each other up in our times of trial. We are called to give the gospel to those who haven't heard. We are called to love each other, not just in the good times but when we have been trespassed against. Love your neighbor as yourself. Just love. Jesus is calling. Are you going to turn Him away or open the door, answering His call?
God grant me to be silent, that I may be still and know.
